I'm Henry, the 3rd year pulmonary fellow, and I grew up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. My research interests include device research, specifically those that record and interpret spectrographic lung auscultation data (think stethoscope robots). I have received 2 clinical fellowship awards from the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation which have enriched my CF education and allowed me to attend the North American CF Conference (NACFC) each year. What I love most about Lurie's pulmonary fellowship are the collegial, education-focused attendings and the incredibly vast range of pathologies that can be found within our walls. Fellows will graduate well-prepared for any practice type and be able tailor their experiences to any subspeciality focus, because you see it all at Lurie Children's! I’ve also appreciated Fellow’s College, one of Lurie's development programs for fellows.

I've lived my life basically making the circle tour around Lake Michigan. I grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin then ended up in the Upper Peninsula (the UP) of Michigan for grad school and spent some time in lower Michigan for medical school and residency in East Lansing and Ann Arbor respectively. When I was little, I dreamed of moving to Chicago some day and now here I am! Even though we live downtown, my partner and I still enjoy getting outside in a variety of ways including biking, hiking, camping or skiing/snowboarding. I also love baking and cooking when I have some free time! I won the pulmonary division chili cook off this fall, and you can often find baked treats in clinic with me when I'm not on service! The best thing about being a fellow at Lurie is how collaborative all the different subspecialties are with each other—my favorite places to do consults in the hospital are in the PICU and cardiac ICU! This interdisciplinary collaboration extends into academic and scholarly projects too. So far, I haven't met a single person who isn't excited about not only their own work, but also about sponsoring trainee education and development in academia. I know I'll come out of these three years of training with a solid clinical foundation and the tools I need to be successful in research early in my career.

Hi! I was born and raised in Miami, FL. My mom is Cuban, and my dad is Puerto Rican so I'm very proud of my Hispanic culture! I went away to Tallahassee for undergrad (Go Noles!) and went back to the University of Miami for medical school. I've been living in Chicago for the last 3 years with my partner and 2 dogs (Stella and Bolt), and we are absolutely in love with this city! Our favorite things to do are take the dogs on walks along the lakefront or riverwalk, try as many new bars and restaurants as we can, and do some window shopping on Michigan Ave. I've always had a great time working with everyone in the pulmonary department as a resident at Lurie, so I'm super excited to get to know everyone even more and to have a few more years to explore everything Chicago has to offer! My biggest research interest right now is the racial disparities within the cystic fibrosis population. My favorite holiday is Halloween, but I usually go all out decorating for ALL of the holidays (I'm really looking forward to decorating my desk and the fellows' office if Danielle and Henry will let me)! And lastly, my favorite dessert is a good brownie or cookie, and I have no allergies or dietary restrictions."}">Hi! I was born and raised in Miami, FL.
